CONGELLA
Die volgende inligting is vanaf die Internet verkry:
-  Voortrekker Camp
The forces of Captain T.C. Smith attempted to attack the Boer camp at Congella on the night of 23
May 1842, but the British were repulsed in the vicinity of the present Maydon Wharf, probably not
far from the sugar terminal. The 34 day siege of the old fort ensued. The Boer campsite is now
Congella Park.
-  Congella Battlefield Monument
The battle of Congella was fought 'somewhere' in the region of present day Maydon Wharf. A
monument to the battle of Congella now stands between Maydon Road and the railway lines a few
hundred metres north of the Maydon Road/Francois Road junction.
Foto's van albei terreine is ingesluit. Die naamplaat van die Voortrekker kampterrein-
monument is deur vandale afgeruk en verwyder. 'n Kaart wat verskyn in die publikasie "The Cronicle of old St
Thomas' Church, Berea, Durban - researched and compiled by D.I. Margrate" word op die webwerf
vertoon.
Spoornet, mnr Mel Ebersohn.
